Our “Scorecarder Learning & Development Spotlight” series showcases our talented, driven employees, the incredible work they do, and their quest to continue their development as lifelong learners.

Name: Guillermo Garcia Granda

Role: Field Sales – Majors Account Director (LATAM)

Tell us a little about your professional background.

I currently live in Ecuador, where I was born, though my work takes me across northern Latin America supporting public and private organizations from Mexico down to my home country. With over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, I specialize in helping decision-makers understand and manage digital risk in a practical, strategic way. I’m also a passionate communicator and a regular guest on FM Mundo Radio, where I break down complex cyber topics in simple, relatable terms. Outside of work, I’m a proud father of two boys, I love to cook, and I’m currently learning the art of being a barista. I’m a true coffee lover—especially the rich and diverse coffees from Latin America. Sharing a good cup of coffee and a good story is one of life’s simplest, most powerful pleasures.

What made you select a Masters Degree in  Governance, Risk, and Compliance?

After over 20 years in cybersecurity, I realized that technical expertise alone is no longer enough. Today’s challenges require a strategic mindset—one that bridges cyber risk with business priorities, regulatory demands, and ethical decision-making. I wanted to strengthen that bridge. This Master’s degree offers exactly that: a deeper understanding of how governance, risk, and compliance come together to build resilient organizations. SecurityScorecard’s support to pursue this journey felt like the perfect moment to level up—not just for my own growth, but to better serve our clients as a trusted advisor who can speak both the language of technology and the language of the boardroom.

What key takeaways did you get from your experience?

One of the most valuable takeaways has been learning to see the world through our clients’ eyes. This program helped me step into their shoes—not just to understand frameworks or regulatory pressure, but to truly grasp the complexity of the decisions they face every day. It’s easy to talk about cyber risk from a technical standpoint. But through this Master’s program, I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for the organizational, financial, and human dimensions of governance and compliance. I now approach conversations not just as a cybersecurity expert, but as a strategic partner who understands what keeps our clients up at night—and how to help them move forward with clarity and confidence.

How will you apply this information to your role and to SecurityScorecard?

This program is giving me the tools to act with greater agility—aligning people, processes, and technology faster and more effectively to reduce risk for our clients. I’m learning how to coordinate efforts across different areas of an organization, speak the language of both the business and security teams, and quickly identify where the real governance gaps are. At SecurityScorecard, that means I’ll be even better equipped to help our clients translate insights into action. Whether it’s aligning third-party risk strategies or strengthening compliance posture, I’ll be able to guide them more strategically—and help them build resilience before the risk becomes a reality.

Ultimately, this strengthens our position as a trusted partner in Latin America—one that not only brings world-class technology, but also understands the local context, the urgency, and the leadership mindset required to protect what truly matters.
