Our “Scorecarder Learning & Development Spotlight” series showcases our talented, driven employees, the incredible work they do, and their quest to continue their development as lifelong learners.
Name: Luciano Bargmann
Role: Engineering Manager
Tell us a little bit about your professional background.
I’m a Software Engineering Project Manager and my background is in software development. I’ve spent my career managing technical projects, leading engineering teams, and working on initiatives that bridge technology and business needs.
Beyond work, I have a strong interest in cybersecurity, AI-driven solutions, and optimizing software engineering processes. Currently, I manage the Questionnaires project, focusing on improving its adoption and usability while expanding the feature set to better align with the VRM workflow.
What made you want to pursue the Professional Certificate in Advanced Project Management program?
I’ve always believed in continuous learning, especially in leadership and management. As I take on more strategic responsibilities, I aim to deepen my expertise in the technical aspects of project management, with a particular focus on the financial side.
Understanding the key factors that drive project success or failure, as well as developing the ability to identify potential issues early, is essential for delivering efficient and well-structured projects.
What key takeaways have you gotten from your learning experience thus far?
I have gained a deeper understanding of the Iron Triangle (scope, time, and cost) and the cause-and-effect relationships involved in adjusting these variables. This includes effectively identifying the critical path, improving estimation techniques, and optimizing task dependencies and parallelization—recognizing that additional resources can only be efficiently utilized when tasks are independent and require minimal coordination. Additionally, I have strengthened my ability to calculate and analyze key financial indicators, such as the Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI), to better assess project health and performance.
How will you apply this information to your role/to SSC?
I’m already incorporating these insights into my work! Beyond Agile methodologies, I am incorporating the Critical Path Method (CPM) to identify tasks that cannot be delayed without impacting project timelines.
Additionally, I am leveraging probabilistic estimation techniques, such as calculating the mean expected time, to improve forecasting accuracy and project planning. These approaches enhance decision-making, mitigate risks, and contribute to more reliable project execution.
