SecurityScorecard ratings help 3,000 organizations strengthen their supply chains, backed by 95% accuracy and insights grounded in data.
Security teams operate under constant pressure, stretched across limited time, tools, resources, and people, while risk shifts as fast as vendors and organizations do. That pace has only accelerated as AI models compress the time between a new vulnerability surfacing and someone exploiting it, sometimes down to hours. A security rating tells you where to focus, giving you a clear answer to bring to the board and to insurers when they ask about your posture.
Often, companies believe they have a handle on where their vulnerabilities sit. For many, that confidence doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.
This year’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a great time to pressure-test that assumption and confirm you actually have visibility into the risks on your plate.
A rating was never meant to be a box to check off for compliance. Done right, it filters out the noise and surfaces what matters, catching risk early rather than explaining it after a breach has already happened.
Publishing these ratings gives organizations a common, factual reference point to start real conversations about risk that already exists across their supply chains, risk that security and business teams alike can act on instead of debate. It replaces guesswork with a shared, data-backed view that keeps leaders focused on what actually matters.
Managing risk without that line of sight into your cybersecurity ecosystem isn’t just hard. It’s impossible.
How SecurityScorecard’s Scoring Works
Your security posture deserves a methodology you can actually inspect. Ours is transparent and published here, so you can trace how your score is calculated.
To build your scores, we use an “outside-in” approach, non-intrusively evaluating an organization’s security profile at scale. Powered by Driftnet, SecurityScorecard’s internet-scanning engine, we continuously scan the public internet across IPv4 and IPv6, mapping billions of IP addresses, open ports (including non-standard ports attackers rely on), DNS records, TLS certificates, HTTP responses, and web fingerprints — giving us 40% more visibility into internet-exposed infrastructure than other intelligence providers.
We collect and enrich 99% of our own data, which we supplement with approximately 40 third-party data sources and 1.5 terabytes of data ingested daily.
The closest comparison is a credit score: a track record translated into a single, data-backed number that predicts future risk. A low credit score signals a higher chance of default. A low cybersecurity rating signals a higher chance of a breach, and validation testing puts that gap at 13.8 times greater breach likelihood for an “F”-rated company versus an “A”-rated one.
Fair comparison matters just as much as accuracy, which is why the methodology applies a size-normalization scheme. It keeps scores meaningful across organizations of any size, so a company isn’t marked down simply for running a larger footprint of digital assets.
Independent Validation Confirms Attribution Accuracy
IP addresses and open ports shift constantly, sometimes within hours, and a change in domain ownership can take a while to fully propagate across the internet. Attribution has to keep up with that pace to stay accurate.
An independent assessment conducted by Online Business Systems measured SecurityScorecard’s attribution accuracy against that moving target and found:
- SecurityScorecard’s overall attribution accuracy is 95%.
- SecurityScorecard has a 94% accuracy rate for attributing IP addresses.
- SecurityScorecard has a 100% accuracy rate for DNS records.
When something still looks off, our refute process gets it corrected fast. As of October 6, 2026, our refute rate sits at 0.0023%, and the vast majority of refutes receive a response from our automated system within minutes. When human review is required, it is generally completed within 48 hours. Whether automated or human-reviewed, corrections are then reflected in your scorecard within 48 hours.
We follow the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s principles for fair and accurate security ratings, ensuring any rated organization can see and challenge their rating regardless of whether they are a customer.
Why SecurityScorecard Doesn’t Charge to Improve Scores
Correcting findings or updating your score is always free with SecurityScorecard. We believe every organization should have the right to a trusted and transparent rating regardless of whether they are a customer. We also believe every organization should have the ability to challenge or correct their score, customer or not.
That’s why we provide both. We’ve heard stories of other companies that require a contract just to gain the ability to correct errors and misunderstandings. We don’t do that, and we never will.
We provide free access because ratings only matter when they reflect reality. Free corrections ensure trust, accuracy, and fairness for everyone.
How this works for your team
Unlimited access to your own security rating is included in our Free Plan. You can view all of your organization’s internet-facing assets in real time and use our straightforward refute process.
As part of our paid plans, we offer continuous monitoring for your entire supply chain, automated reports, and daily alerts and APIs for vendor monitoring.
SecurityScorecard as a Partner
Supply chains only get more tangled with each passing year, and a score alone won’t keep pace with that. You need a signal reliable enough to act on, one that puts you ahead of attackers looking to exploit the gaps you can’t see.
SecurityScorecard ratings give you an ongoing read on your organization’s cyber hygiene, the kind that feeds directly into risk programs, board reporting, and cyber insurance underwriting.
Access to your score and fast and fair corrections are just one important aspect of your third-party risk management program. AI agents can draft remediation requests and rank issue severity automatically, prioritizing findings against active threat activity rather than a static scoring model, so your team spends its attention where the risk actually concentrates. That same automation can carry the finding through to resolution, following up with vendors and verifying fixes instead of taking them at face value.
Validation testing backs this up with a clear correlation between our ratings and breach likelihood, which means acting on the issues we surface genuinely lowers your risk.
We built this company to help organizations understand their cybersecurity risk, improve it, and explain it clearly to the board, employees, and vendors, with the end goal of a more resilient supply chain worldwide. Our methodology took shape alongside industry leaders like NTT and T-Mobile.
Thousands of organizations already lean on SecurityScorecard to harden their supply chains. Transparent scoring, free access to your own rating, and a review process that moves fast and treats everyone fairly give you the visibility and the confidence to raise your security posture, together.
TITAN AI: Where TPRM Goes Next
A rating points to what needs attention. It doesn’t tell you which of those issues an attacker is exploiting this week, or whether anyone on your team has the bandwidth to close it. Closing that gap is what TITAN AI was built to do.
Third parties now factor into 48% of breaches, a 60% jump year-over-year, per the 2026 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR). Regulators have raised the standard from a documented policy to real-time proof, often faster than business leaders can keep pace. Most teams still burn hours just mapping every vendor across disconnected tools, and once that picture finally comes together, the harder question remains: what happens next.
SecurityScorecard built TITAN AI to carry that work the rest of the way. It’s an AI operating system for Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) end to end, linking ratings data with AI-native assessments, continuous threat monitoring, and automated remediation in a single system. A finding no longer stops at a score. It moves through to resolution.
The payoff shows up in results, not just visibility. Teams running TITAN AI see up to 95% less manual effort, 9 times stronger vendor response rates, and up to 75% fewer supply chain breaches, driven by automating the work rather than adding staff. SecurityScorecard reports a near-zero refute rate inside the platform.
Over 70% of the Fortune 100 and 3,000 organizations globally already depend on SecurityScorecard for that visibility. TITAN AI carries it forward: the rating as the starting signal, with the workflow attached to act on it, so teams shift from tracking risk to closing it out.
TITAN AI is available today for organizations ready to move their third-party risk management program from manual tracking to one connected workflow. Request a demo to see TITAN AI run intake through remediation on your own vendor portfolio.
