MetLife is a financial services company that provides insurance, annuities, employee benefits, and asset management. It operates through five segments: U.S., Asia, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and MetLife Holdings. The U.S. segment is organized into two businesses: Group Benefits that offers life insurance, dental, group short- and long-term disability, individual disability, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, vision, and accident and health insurance as well as prepaid legal plans and pet insurance; and Retirement and Income Solutions that provides funding and financing for institutional customers to mitigate and manage liabilities. The Asia, Latin America, and EMEA segments offer various products to individuals, corporations, and other institutions. The MetLife Holdings segment consists of variable, universal, term and whole life insurance, variable, fixed, and index-linked annuities, and long-term care insurance.
