One of the most critical factors to effective cybersecurity is time. The longer a vulnerability remains unaddressed, the more opportunity you give hackers to get into your system and wreak havoc.
Think about it like this: imagine that you leave your laptop bag sitting on the passenger seat of your car. If you run into the store to get milk but forget to lock the door, the odds are that the laptop bag will still be there when you get back. But if you leave the car unlocked on the street for a week while you go on vacation? That laptop is as good as gone.
How can you make more time? Focus on increasing your visibility into your vulnerabilities along with your remediation speed. The more you can see and the faster you fix the issues you find, the less window of opportunity hackers will have to find or exploit those vulnerabilities themselves.
While SecurityScorecard is built to provide you with complete visibility into your security posture, it can sometimes be difficult to find the right Scorecard at the right time, especially if you have thousands of Scorecards to manage. That’s where Tagging comes in.
Overcome Scorecard Complexity with Tagging
With our new Tagging functionality, you can assign, sort, filter, and search assets and vendors using whatever tags you choose. By assigning tags to your Scorecards, you can now find what you need faster and more accurately, which gives you more time to make smarter decisions.
Tagging lets you easily answer questions like:
“What is our exposure to high-risk vendors in EMEA that provide critical infrastructure services?”
“Which vendors in New Zealand should we avoid?”
“Which of our vendors that are Fortune 500 companies that we do more than $5 million of business with still need to patch this latest vulnerability?”
“Which of our cyber insurance customers in South America have fallen behind their compliance requirements?”
How Tagging Works
Tags are simple to use. Create tags by function, criticality, geography, department, purpose, or any other factor you can think of to track assets and vendors in the way that makes the most sense for your business. While you could do this before manually by grouping Scorecards into portfolios, tagging lets you dynamically group Scorecards without having to worry about portfolio hygiene.
There are two ways you can add tags:
By Scorecard: You can create or edit tags for individual Scorecards on a Scorecard’s page. This is useful when you are looking at a Scorecard and want to group it with others in your portfolio.
By Portfolio: You can also create tags in bulk for large groups of Scorecards in the portfolio view or by uploading a .csv file.
Once you have tags assigned to Scorecards, you can browse, filter, or search by tags. Combine tags with other filter criteria such as security score, industry, and status to find exactly the right Scorecard when you need it.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
All tags are private and only visible to your organization. If you want to tag a vendor as “red flag,” go for it: they won’t know they’re on the hot seat.
You can assign an unlimited number of tags per Scorecard. Get descriptive!
