The most important value to me is that the people around me are dedicated, helpful, knowledgeable, and that they care-- not just about their job, but also about their co-workers, the customers, and everything in between. I think that SecurityScorecard has done a really good job with choosing who to bring in, because everybody’s a really hard worker. If I have an issue, no one has a problem with helping me, and they’ll drop what they’re doing to do so, even though they’re probably just as busy-- if not busier-- than I am. I never feel like my colleagues belittle me for not knowing something.
The size. I didn’t know exactly what I was getting into in a small company. What I’m enjoying most so far about that is the idea of ownership and the respect that you get in knowing people across many different departments.
I love my team! It’s the best team I’ve ever worked with. My Collaborations team is super multicultural. I like the fact that I speak in Spanish sometimes, and get to hear about Uruguayan holidays or other happenings on the other side of the world. With my QRE [Quality Reliability Engineering] team, I love the fact that if I need something, they’re right there for me, and vice-versa. If I’ve got a day where I’m just solidly booked or not feeling 100%, they’re right there to step in. Everyone is just really, really, nice. They’re easy to work with, and they’re fun!
My very first day of work here in Raleigh, Danny [Gershman, Senior Director of Security Operations in Infrastructure Services] introduced me to #SecurityDNA. He told me to make sure to lock my computer every time before I got up, and to lock the office door if I were the last one to leave. That’s the most physical way to say #SecurityDNA, but that comes to mind first because it was one the first principles I heard when I walked in the door as an employee. And I’m happy to announce that I’ve never forgotten to do either of those two things! But it goes a lot further than that: It’s protecting our data, it’s being mindful of the information you post on the Internet. #SecurityDNA is protecting yourself and protecting the company.

You need to be flexible. I also think you have to be able to work hard and play hard. There is a lot of challenging work to do, so you need to be dedicated, but you also can’t work all the time. We definitely take things seriously at SecurityScorecard, yet we know when to cut off work when we have to. There’s a good work-life balance here.
With hackers finding new ways to attack third-parties in hopes of infecting a larger organization, the third-party ecosystem is more fragile than ever before.
